Atyrau Journal - Celebration of Spring!

The Kazakh history is one of a difficult life living in yurts on the barren steeps of Europe and Asia. After difficult winters, spring was a welcome change. Families could reunite and visit one another for the first time in months. Since life depended on the survival of cattle, the first question upon reunion was, "How's your cattle?" And then, "How's your family?" Today, it is celebrated with an extended holiday known as Nauryz, a celebration of spring and renewal! And don't forget to wear your native costume!!
