Atyrau Journal - Rhonda volunteers with "Friends of Atyrau"

December 8, 2022 - A group of expat spouses have established the Friends of Atyrau to contribute to the welfare of our Kazakhstani friends in our area. One of the projects is to help young adults who have grown up in orphanages to develop skills necessary to integrate into Kazakh society at large. Each year FOA holds events to raise money to enhance their efforts. In December, Rhonda and others used donated funds to help the young adults shop for clothing, especially for work and job interviews. A few days later, they had a Christmas / Holiday Party (many orphans are Muslim and do not celebrate Christmas), where the FOA provided the orphans with blanket, boots, and other gifts they had requested, and the orphans presented the FOA volunteers with homemade artwork.
