Atyrau Journal - Two street scenes

February 2023 - The first picture is one of some Kazakhstanis walking in the snow, showing a typical apartment building patterned after those from the Soviet era, with one floor of shops and four floors of apartments. The second picture shows how they paint the bottom of the trees white. We saw this in Turkey as well. The thinking is that the white paint protects the trees from various diseases, insects, and other damage.
